Deuterium lamp for the PerkinElmer Lambda series, cross-referenced to L6022728. The Lambda range spans a lot of instruments and several generations, so the series name on the badge is not enough to order from. Read the number printed on the lamp that is fitted, or send me a photograph of the housing. Deuterium output falls first in the deep UV, so if your problem sits below about 250 nm the lamp is a fair suspect, and if it covers the whole scan it is not.

This lamp has no RFID chip. Some detectors read a chip to log lamp hours. On those, an untagged lamp reports a tag error and will not ignite until you set the lamp type manually, and you reset the lamp-hours counter yourself afterwards. It runs normally once that is done. What that involves. If you would rather have the chipped version, say so and I will quote that instead.

Before you order: if the instrument is misbehaving, tell me the symptom, not the part number. Lamps and seals get replaced for problems they did not cause. The first look costs nothing, and if this part is not the fix, I will say so.

Deuterium lamp for PerkinElmer Series 200 UV/Vis

Deuterium lamp for the PerkinElmer Series 200 UV/Vis detector, cross-referenced to N2900484. A second part number, B0114620, also appears against this detector, so read the label on the lamp you are removing rather than ordering by the instrument name. The Series 200 is an older modular stack and many are still in service, which means the flow cell has usually had a longer life than the lamp. Clean it and re-run your baseline before deciding the lamp is finished.

Lamp for the PerkinElmer Series 200 UV/Vis, cross-referenced to B0114620. This is the second of the two numbers that appear against this detector; the other is N2900484. They are not interchangeable, and the instrument badge will not tell you which you have, so the number printed on the lamp being removed is the thing to go by. Deuterium lamp for Shimadzu UV-Vis spectrophotometers

Deuterium lamp for the Shimadzu UV-Vis bench, cross-referenced to 062-65055-05. These are double beam instruments, which hides lamp ageing for longer than a single beam does: the reference beam absorbs some of the drift, so by the time the baseline looks wrong the lamp is usually well past its useful output. The tell is noise creeping up below 250 nm while the visible range still looks clean. Run the instrument's own energy or lamp history check before ordering, and if the noise covers the whole scan the lamp is not your problem.

Deuterium lamp for Shimadzu UV-1800 and UV-1900

Deuterium lamp for the UV-1800 and UV-1900, cross-referenced to L6302-40. These benches keep a lamp hour counter, and it is worth reading before you diagnose anything, because a lamp left on continuously accumulates hours far faster than the number of samples suggests. Many labs never switch the source off between runs. If the counter is low and the UV end is still noisy, suspect a dirty cuvette or a fouled window before the lamp. Reset the counter after fitting, or the next person inherits a number that means nothing.
